Volkswagen reportedly considers a US-built pickup before 2030 as it rethinks its American strategy

Image: Volkswagen AG Volkswagen may be considering an unusual way to strengthen its position in the United States: a locally built pickup carrying the Volkswagen badge. Reuters, citing a company source, reported that Volkswagen is preparing a broader overhaul of its US business and product strategy. One option under study is a Volkswagen-branded pickup produced in the United States and launched before the end of the decade. The Chattanooga plant in Tennessee is one possible production location, although no final decision has been reported. Volkswagen declined to comment to Reuters. That makes this a reported plan rather than a confirmed product programme. Australia Moves Toward National E-Bike and E-Scooter Safety Standards

The federal push is aimed at the products that can be sold in the first place. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has named e-micromobility safety as one of its 2026–27 product safety priorities. It plans to develop nationally consistent standards for e-bikes first, followed by other devices such as e-scooters, with issues including power limits and lithium-ion battery safety.
