MG is expanding its dealer network in Malaysia with the opening of its first 3S Centre in Rawang, giving customers in Rawang and the northern Klang Valley another location to view and test-drive its vehicles, with aftersales services to follow.

The new MG Rawang 3S Centre is located in the Rawang Hi-Tech Industrial Area and is operated by SNS Kembara Utama Sdn Bhd. The facility occupies a one-and-a-half-storey semi-detached building measuring approximately 1,200 square metres.

There is, however, an important distinction for customers to note. Although the new outlet is described as a 3S Centre, its Sales, Service and Spare Parts operations are not yet all fully operational at the same time.

The showroom is already open, allowing customers to view vehicles and arrange test drives. Aftersales services will begin once the service centre has been completed and is fully operational.

MG now has 26 sales and service touchpoints in Malaysia

With the addition of the Rawang outlet, MG currently has 26 sales and service touchpoints across Malaysia.

The significance of the new location goes beyond adding another showroom. It also extends MG's physical presence further into Rawang and the northern part of the Klang Valley.

For customers living around Rawang and the surrounding northern Klang Valley areas, the new outlet provides another location for vehicle enquiries and test drives, while local aftersales access will improve further once the service centre begins operations.

MGS5 EV available for customers to experience

Customers can already visit the Rawang outlet to experience MG models including the MGS5 EV and arrange a test drive.

The MGS5 EV is only part of the showroom offering, however. The main development here is the expansion of MG's retail and aftersales network rather than the launch of a new model.

The facility also provides a customer lounge, Wi-Fi, coffee and light refreshments.

Operated by a dealer with around 19 years of automotive experience

The MG Rawang 3S Centre is operated by SNS Kembara Utama Sdn Bhd.

According to the information provided, the company has around 19 years of experience in the automotive industry, with activities covering vehicle sales, servicing and maintenance.

It also operates three Ford outlets in Ipoh. Taking on the MG franchise marks a further expansion of SNS Kembara Utama's automotive retail and aftersales business.

Opening hours

The showroom currently operates during the following hours:

  • Monday to Saturday: 9.00am to 5.30pm
  • Sunday and public holidays: 11.00am to 4.00pm

Customers who wish to make an enquiry or arrange a test drive can contact the outlet at 016-515 8059.

Why the aftersales network matters just as much

For an automotive brand that is still expanding its presence in Malaysia, opening more sales outlets is only one part of the equation.

As the number of vehicles on the road grows, convenient access to maintenance, repairs and spare parts becomes increasingly important to the ownership experience.

This makes the next stage of the Rawang outlet particularly relevant. Once the aftersales section becomes fully operational, MG owners in the area will have another local service point instead of the facility functioning primarily as a showroom and test-drive location.

Until then, the most accurate way to view the new outlet is as a showroom that has begun operations while the full 3S functions are being brought online progressively.

Move Auto Take

For automotive brands building or rebuilding their presence in Malaysia, dealer coverage can matter just as much as the number of new models being launched. Customers may choose a car based on the product, but over several years of ownership they are more likely to interact repeatedly with servicing, repairs and parts support. MG's move into Rawang therefore strengthens its coverage in the northern Klang Valley. For now, however, the outlet is better understood as a showroom that has opened ahead of the full 3S operation. The real test will come once its aftersales facilities are fully up and running.
